And there’s no need to worry about missing the boat on great deals. Full board, dazzling shows and evening entertainment, childcare and children’s clubs on our family-friendly ships, and flights* and transfers on our Med Fly-cruises are all included in the price of your holiday.

Explore the fjords

It is often said that the best way to experience the beauty of the Norwegian fjords is to sail them. As one of the world’s most unspoiled natural wonders, there really is nothing quite like sailing through the glacial waters surrounded by mountains and shores dotted with quaint fishing villages. If the Norwegian fjords have long been on your wish list, summer is the perfect time to experience them.

Sitting between two of the region’s biggest fjords, Bergen is a fantastic location from which to explore the area. But it is also a destination worth visiting in its own right. The colourful, gabled wooden houses that line the harbour are an iconic sight. This area, known as Bryggen (the Norwegian word for ‘wharf’), is a UNESCO World Heritage listed area and is the city’s oldest quarter, and is buzzing with life and history. For inspiring panoramic views of the city and the region, hike up one of the seven mountains that surround Bergen, or take the funicular railway to the top of Mount Fløyen, which overlooks both Bergen and the surrounding region on the Bergen by Foot and Funicular shore excursion.

Nestled on the innermost part of Sognefjord is the tiny village of Flam. As you sail there you’ll pass thundering waterfalls, towering mountains and lush green valleys. Stunning natural beauty aside, Flåm is perhaps most famous for its dramatic railway, one of the steepest in the world. Take a ride on the Flåm Railway on the Scenic Flåm Railway shore excursion and you’ll be taking part in one of Norway’s most popular activities. Over the course of an hour you’ll travel through stunning landscape as well as 20 tunnels, travelling from sea level to the mountain station of Myrdal 867 metres above sea level in just 12 miles.

The best of the Med

Glorious sunshine and sparkling seas go without saying on a holiday to the central Mediterranean. Add to that a wealth of amazing destinations packed with culture, natural beauty and character, and you’ve really got something special.

Take the Greek islands for example. Corfu a port of call on many of our central Mediterranean cruises this summer, is an emerald jewel in the Ionian Sea. Lush countryside, sapphire blue waters, sun and sand, and culture galore make Corfu a popular holiday destination. But delve further into the island’s heart and you’ll find tiny traditional villages where it seems time has stood still, surrounded by groves upon groves of lemon and olive trees, fragrant pine forests and working vineyards. Sail to the spectacular Santorini, where the iconic white and blue houses appear to hang from the cliff tops, or visit the picture-perfect Mykonos, where you can experience the vibrant capital as well as enjoy the stunning beauty of the island’s famous beaches and crystal-clear sea. Then seek out the ancient sites of Athens (tours from Piraeus) or discover hidden coves in Zakinthos – the choice is yours.

If bustling Mediterranean cities are more your thing, there’s nowhere better to escape to this summer than the Catalan capital of Barcelona. With its mile-long beach just a stroll down from the main street of Las Ramblas, its sunny and warm climate and constantly buzzing centre, Barcelona will keep you endlessly entertained. And let’s not forget the food and drink. Sit at a street-side bar and watch the world go by as you fill your boots with a selection of pintxos – Basque-style tapas – Spanish tapas and paella, all washed down with a cold cerveza.

Wherever you go, you’re free to explore on your own or check out the wide range of shore excursions we offer designed to help you make the most of your time on shore, many designed with families in mind.

Fly to the heart of the Med

To maximise your Mediterranean experience, a Med Fly-cruise gives you the chance to start your holiday in the sun from the get-go. With smooth airport transfers and luggage delivered directly to your cabin, you really can relax and get in the holiday mood the minute you touch down.

This summer’s Med Fly-cruises on Oceana allow you to experience a wide range of stunning destinations. You could explore up to four different ports on a seven-day cruise, while in a fortnight you could visit up to nine. Departing from Italy gives you access to some of Europe’s most fascinating treasures – ranging from magnificent historic trading ports to island hotspots, with a wealth of coastal gems in between.

Take Venice and Genoa (your embarkation and disembarkation options). Both demand to be seen at least once in a lifetime with an unrivalled mix of culture, architecture, fine food and unique beauty. Along the way, you could take in such highlights as Italy’s Renaissance jewels Florence and Pisa in Tuscany (tours from Livorno) and the magnificent capital Rome (tours from Civitavecchia) with the must-see Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and St Peter’s Basilca; the dramatic walled cities of Dubrovnik in Croatia and Kotor in Montenegro, plus beautiful Ajaccio on the French island of Corsica.

There are many options for keeping the whole family entertained on our ships

For the youngsters

Enjoy cruises with all the family this summer with our range of school holiday cruises on the family-friendly members of our fleet: Aurora, Azura, Britannia, Oceana and Ventura. These ships have family enjoyment and comfort in mind – with large children’s areas and child-friendly pools and public areas (as well as areas reserved just for adults).

Whisk the family away to the Med on Azura’s A619 cruise departing from Southampton on 22 July, and the lucky little ones will get to visit wonderful locations including Gibraltar, Ajaccio, Rome (tours from Civitavecchia), Florence/Pisa (tours from La Spezia), Monte Carlo, Marseille and Seville (tours from Cadiz). For more of a Greek-focus, Ventura’s N619 cruise takes in Zakinthos, Athens (tours from Piraeus), Santorini, Mykonos and Olympia (tours from Katakolon), among other destinations, or if you’d prefer to tempt them with the treats of Italy, join Oceana’s E613A cruise that includes stops in Florence/Pisa (tours from Livorno), Naples, Dubrovnik, as well as Venice. Introduce them to the sights of Scandinavia on a Norwegian fjords school holiday cruise and they’ll get the chance to wander in awe at amazing places such as Stavanger, Olden, Flåm and Bergen on Britannia’s B622 cruise.

Wherever you head, there’s no shortage of fun on board for all. Both you and your little ones will love our children’s clubs while older children will relish all the sports, activities and facilities to keep them entertained while making new friends.

While they’re having fun, so can you. If you want to get active, there are plenty of options – from exercise classes and dancing lessons to cookery seminars and chess clubs. Relaxation is on the menu, too. Chill by the pool, retreat to a quiet corner with a good book or check in for a spa treat or two.

And our evening entertainment is second to none. With the children safely tucked up in our night nurseries you can kick back and enjoy show-stopping entertainment in the theatre, a wealth of music and cabaret performances and dancing till late. You’ll lose track of time for all the right reasons.
