What’s your ultimate travel goal? Perhaps it’s snorkelling Australia’s Great Barrier Reef or crossing San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Maybe it’s immersing yourself in culture in Vietnam, or soaking up the sun on Aruba’s soft sands. Whatever you dream of, a P&O Cruises holiday can make it a reality. P&O Cruises offers epic, once-in-a-lifetime adventures to far-flung destinations in all four corners of the globe. Here, we look at the epic journeys that two of our ships - Arcadia and Aurora - will embark on in 2019.

Arcadia – Western Circumnavigation World Cruise

31 ports, 23 countries, 99 nights and 32,900 nautical miles: Arcadia’s Western Circumnavigation World Cruise is truly epic. This three-month odyssey takes you to iconic world cities, exotic islands and off-the-beaten-path ports on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday experience.

Departing Southampton, you’ll sail across the Atlantic with stops in Madeira and the Caribbean (including a transit of the Panama Canal) and on to San Francisco, where you’ll stay overnight. This Californian city is a guest favourite, and for good reason: it’s chock-full of must-see sights (the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf), friendly people and a buzzing atmosphere.

You’ll then set sail across the Pacific with stops in a number of far-flung islands including Nouméa in beautiful New Caledonia. The French territory is an intoxicating mix of European culture and laid-back island life. You’ll enjoy another overnight stop in Sydney, one of the world’s great cities. Sailing into Sydney harbour, with the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House as your backdrop, is a sight you’ll never forget. While in Australia, you’ll also visit the Whitsunday Islands, which offer sun, sea and sand – and some of the world’s best snorkelling.

Arcadia’s World Cruise visits a number of exciting Asian ports. Be dazzled by the bright lights of Hong Kong, where you’ll make an overnight stop – indulge in dim sum, cruise Victoria Harbour or explore the city’s diverse neighbourhoods on foot. For a comparatively low-key experience, from Chan May visit the ancient city of Hoi An in Vietnam. Expect historic temples, peaceful beaches and excellent food. You’ll then make stops in culture-rich ports such as Singapore, Mumbai, and Haifa before sailing back to Southampton – full of fascinating stories of your experiences abroad and rich with memories you’ll cherish forever.

Aurora – Amazon, Caribbean & Central America Adventure

Excitement is on the cards on Aurora’s 55-night Amazon, Caribbean & Central America Adventure. On this unforgettable holiday, you’ll visit 23 ports in some of the world’s most far-flung (and sun-soaked) regions.

Departing Southampton, your first stop will be Tenerife in the Canary Islands, followed by St Vincent in the Cape Verde islands. Crossing the Atlantic, you’ll head to Brazil and enjoy an unforgettable sail up the Amazon River with an overnight stop in Manaus, the river’s furthest navigable port. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to view the phenomenon known as the ‘Meeting of the Waters’, where the muddy yellow water of the mighty Solimões and the clear, dark water of the Rio Negro meet and continue to flow together without intermingling.

Next, it’s on to the Caribbean and its clear blue waters, sandy beaches and sunny skies. No matter what you’re looking for, Barbados has it all: immaculate white-sand beaches or rugged surf, peace and quiet or bustling nightlife, culture and adventure or total relaxation. St Lucia, meanwhile, is the perfect destination for nature-lovers, with verdant rainforests, dramatic volcanic landscapes, pristine beaches, exotic birdlife and gardens full of hibiscus and bougainvillea.

Central America is next. Belize – with its historical old town, tropical beaches, mangroves, rainforests, exotic wildlife and Mayan ruins – is a dynamic destination that appeals to travellers of all types. In Mexico, you can discover why Cozumel is one of the world’s most popular cruise ports: its glorious beaches and bustling town centre are pure paradise.
