If you’ve booked a one of our World Cruises for 2016, you’re in for a treat. From catamaran cruises to Japanese drumming, the Shore Excursions we’ll have on offer are some of our best yet. Here are some of the highlights… 

 

Atlantis Submarine Experience by Night

Experience the underwater nightlife of Barbados on an amazing night dive in the Atlantis submarine. You’ll see creatures normally hidden away by daylight and experience a different colour-scape as the sub’s spotlights shine onto the reef, while the knowledgeable co-pilot will help you identify the marine life and coral formations.

Lazy Day Cruise

In new port Banjul, Gambia, take a riverboat down Oyster Creek and discover the local life among the mangrove swamps. You’ll see women fishing for oysters and men casting their nets, and even have a chance to try fishing yourself. This is also a fantastic opportunity for wildlife spotting; listen out for the tropical birds that call the waterways their home.

The Gambia 4x4 Adventure

If you’d rather stick to the roads, take a 4x4 tour of Gambia’s Southern Coast, through bush land and local villages. You’ll have a BBQ lunch on an unspoilt beach, with a chance to swim, paddle or sunbathe in the afternoon sun. Later, take in the sights and sounds along the Tanji Nature Trail.

Cebu City Sights

This action-packed adventure day in our new port Cebu takes in the walled gardens of Fort San Pedro, Magellan’s Cross, the Basilica Basilica del Santo Niño and Heritage Monument. You’ll take a panoramic drive through the historic Parian District and finish off the day with a visit to the ornate Taoist Temple in Beverley Hills.

Magellan penguins in southern Chile

 

Magdalena Island Penguin Reserve

In Punta Arenas, take a ferry across the water to one of southern Chile’s largest colonies of Magellan penguins, which never grow more than two-feet tall. After the relaxing crossing, you’ll have an hour to explore the island and see the penguins, and a whole host of other interesting birdlife, in their own habitat.

Villa Victoria and Heritage

Explore the sights, sounds and smells of Valparaiso, Chile, before hopping on board a trolley bus to Villa Victoria, a gorgeous 19th-century house that’s been lovingly restored by new its new owners, Victoria and Kenneth. Decked out in traditional dress, they’ll give you a tour, complete with historical tales of Valparaiso and delicious homemade pastries.

Whitehaven Beach

Take a high-speed catamaran journey through northeast Australia’s protected Whitsunday Islands to Whitehaven. This uninhabited island boasts a three-and-a-half-mile stretch of pristine white silica sand beside the crystal-clear ocean, which has been voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world. You can use your time to sunbathe, stroll along the water’s edge or take a dip before heading back to the catamaran for a tropical buffet lunch in scenic surroundings.

Alotau Cultural Festival

In new port Alotau, Papua New Guinea, experience the colour and sound of a mini kenu (canoe) and kundu (drum) festival, arranged just for you. There will displays of elaborately decorated Lopo war canoes, traditional dance groups, local choirs and cooking demonstrations – a true explosion of cultural activity.

Landscapes and Lanterns

From otherworldly landscapes to inspiring remote villages, experience a day of visual wonders in our new port Keelung, Taiwan. You’ll start at Yehliu Geological Park, where the force of Mother Nature has created natural statues, including the ‘Queens Head’, ‘Fairy’s Shoe’ and ‘Peanut Rock’. After this, you’ll head up into the mountains to visit the charming village of Chuifen, which boasts beautiful views, architecture, teahouses, souvenir shops and tasty local food stalls.

Japanese Drum Show and Experience
